Subject: Estes Requests Feedback - Bring Back The Oldies

Hello everyone,

We in COSROCS are honored to have Dave Talbot, the Product Manager at
Estes Industries, as a club member and regular attendee at our
launches and meetings. At this month's business meeting, he asked for
help in promulgating an email address at Estes that is monitored by
their marketing group for product and program commentary, and to
promote communications between rocketeers, clubs and Estes. That
address is:
EstesRockets (at) CenturiMS (dot) Com

Dave Talbot is also requesting feedback from us regarding our favorite
kits of old, and invites everyone to use this address to vote for your
favorite kit to bring back. Just send an email to this address with
your re-issue vote; include the original kit's product number as well
(Jim Z's web site has them: https://www.dars.org/jimz/rp00.htm/).
Emails and addresses received will be used for no other purpose than
for this process, so real names and addresses are encouraged; this
will also help to validate the messages received, and to protect
against "ballot box stuffing".

Feel free to pass this information along to all rocketeers that may be
interested.

Thanks!

I would have only one request, make it simple and bring back the entire NCR line up. (period)

They do not have to produce the over priced motors, just bring back the rockets...we'll find something to put in it to fly them on :D

The Pathfinder is a good one too (kit #1997)

I want....ahhhh....all of these!

But NOT made in China with real balsa nose cones, please, thank you!:D

I gotta agree, this would be much better then the DRM IMHO. And I'm also with sandman, no cheap plastic stuff and not made in china.

Well, I emailed them my short list of requested reissues - all scale designs, so even if nothing comes of any of these designs, I'm hopeful that some of the old classics are brought back.

Estes has been really good to me, as well as to most everyone else, so if they want feedback, I really think this forum needs to step up and sound off. This might be one of those rare times that a company as large as Estes wants and needs our input.

Thanks Estes for the opportunity. 8)

Didn't Estes buy out Centuri back in the early-mid 80s ??? If so could Estes bring back some of the Centuri kits .... I would really love to have a repo Magnum Sam 3 two stage !!!! AWESOME rocket !!!

My list isn't too bad,

K29 Saturn 1B
K30 Little Joe II
K43 Mars Lander
1273 Andromeda
1284 Space Shuttle
1310 Colonial Viper
2085 Jayhawk
2111 Mercury Atlas
2115 SRX

My vintage Estes short list would be as follows as taken from a 1972 Estes Catalog .... and in order ;

1. Astron Apogee II, Cat No. 651-K-5
2. Mini Bertha, Cat No. 712-TK-3
3. Sandhawk, Cat No. 711-K-51
4. Gemini-Titan Cat No. 701-K-21
5. Aerobee 300 Cat No. 651-K-17

I personally like the Pro Series line of rockets - Terrier/Sandhawk, Jayhawk, 2x 24mm MMT Impulse, 3x 24mm MMT Maxi-Force, and 4x 24mm US ARMY Patriot!!!

I would personally like to see C5-3's brought back into production.

That was one little kick butt motor, worked great in the heavier Estes kits. It would definately be a great motor for a stock built Outlander.

Although I did have one CATO but my Prowler simply took it in stride, no damage at all. It didn't change my opinion of the motor.

Please bring it back.:D :D :D

First, I told them my specs: How long I have flown rockets, that I am a BAR. Then I thanked them for the re-issues of the past few years, and such neat new complex rockets such as the Outlander and the Renegade.

Now that I buttered them up, I asked for A10-0Ts and A3-6Ts

Finally, my list:

1) Saturn 1B #1229 (The BIG one)
2) Interceptor #1250
3) Star Snoop #0850 (Every kid loves a flying eyeball!)
4) Bomarc #0657
5) Blue Bird Zero #1335

Gemini Titan
Ramair
They also had a Nike-something...Can't remember the whole name of it. I built one, and lost it on the first launch. It wasn't a staged kit, but it looked like one. All I can remember is a Thiokol decal on the top section. This would have been late 80's, early 90's.

I'd like to see the Maxi Pershing
and any of the NCR kits return

The one with the Thiokol decal was the Nike Apache.

Here's the decal sheet:

Kit #1957, produced from 1986 through 1989.

I wouldn't mind seeing these kits being offered again ( This is just a partial list) although some of these can be purchesed from other vendors, it would be nice to see them in an Estes package.
K-2 Mark 2
K-8 Skyhook
K-11 Wac Corporal
K-55 Goblin
0651- Der Red Max
1279 Nike Ajax
I loved the Nike Ajax....it ended up in Lake Ontario some years back.

At the bottom you say:"Feel free to pass this information along to all rocketeers that may be
interested."

SO, can we quote this on r.m.r. ot other forums/Yahoogroups?

I sent an email, what have I got to lose? I requested they bring back the following

Pro series Jayhawk
Pro series Terrier Sandhawk
Pro series Patriot
Little Joe II
Gemini Titan K21 (this was the orignal one they did with 2 engine cluster)
Mercury Atlas

Also, since it's a wish list anyway, I threw in my vote for them to start remaking C5-3's!

Hi all,
After 12+ years in the hobby biz... ('84-97) here's my 2 cents worth. It's tough!
Such a small market share but, the newer manufactrers keep on
going!
I'd like to see the collectibilty part go away, and see all of us rocket heads get back to basics...I've sold a few on auction; heck, we can all clone classics, etc.
I'm gonna clone...
Jones
p.s.
So,
Estes, drop the A10-0P plugged motors; we can't dig 'em out (per NAR)...make 'em -O's :), Need B-8's, B-14's, $hit that flies!!!
I'd like to see motors with a purpose; not just some shelf filled at the local store (mostly intruded by little ol' ladies cruisin' the crafts).

CLEAR fin units for the Skywriter (etc.) Not to mention sell those old twist-on clear fin units from the BT60 "scale" kits ($70-$150 for a $10 kit?) Horse hockey!!
Drop the HEAVY plastic parts, just get back to Model Rocketry.
I loved the Orbital Transport re-release; coudn't buy one as a kid...
I know of no one who HATES cutting parts, fins, etc, from balsa...
Jones

...been flyin' since '68 FWIW...

Estes contacted me about two months ago saying they had a position I would have been perfect for. Anyway, they dropped they ball and Mary told me it's dead in the water. She is very nice and deserves better.

Here is one thing Estes will miss out on, the SHXTeslaZ. It is a launch controller that does not require batteries, now it will only be a rendered movie...

I have plenty of other stuff too, but oh well...
