This is a rocket that looks like it should be a two stage attempt. So I did. Went with 3 fins and going with C size motors. I have another one of these kits that I will build to the plans.

Interesting mod! I can see why it looks like it should be a two stage. Conversely, I thought it was a design homage to the RIM-8 Talos missile, minus the booster.

Fun to kit bash. Ready to go. Nova Two. Plan on a C6-0 to a B6-5 for first flight. Go from there.

Looks great!!! I'm sure it will fly very well in 2-stage configuration. I believe you've inspired me to go pick one of these kits up at Hobby Lobby. I envision adding a payload section to the top to loft videocams, altimeters, etc.

Flew my version this weekend at Michiana Mayhem. Great flight on D12-0 staged to C6-5. Watched the sustainer drift away over the down range farm - oh well, will have to build another! (And use a streamer next time!)

Ok I picked up two Esam-58. I did this one as per instruction except with a D size instead of a C. The next one will be two stage. Debating on D too C or with my original thought of two D's

Would you be willing to let me know how much nose weight you added to the nose in the Red Nova for the tow stage configuration?

Thanks!
Andrew

I only added the clay weight that came with the kit (14g, I think?) for my two-stage Red Nova conversion. I did move the upper fins rearward 1" from the original design, and that is where the stage separation point is. My OR sim file is posted previously.

Man what a cool idea i need to do a 2 stage 24mm like a d12-0 then a E

I flew my stock red nova this week end on a D12-7 and what a flyer
