Estes Phantom

I just finished my Estes Phantom

I used weldbond glue because it dries crystal clear..I also upgraded the recovery system by running a kevlar line from the upper centering ring and added a swivel to the chute

I will also be changing the standard plastic chute to a purty mylar one.. the rocket was finished with Future

the cutaway motor was done with model master paints and is removeable

Very lovely! I always wanted a Phantom, but never did get one. I did manage to win one on Ebay a while back, but it has a broken fin, so it is definitely a display model (I'll use your tip about Weldbond to tack it back together - thanks!)

That motor really looks good - looks just like you sawed a real one in half!

Great job.

On mine, I "painted" the motor with indelible markers and it looks OK, but not nearly as nice as yours!

The phantom is really a great little teaching tool and I can't, for the life of me, figure out why Estes stopped selling it.

Maybe 'cause they're gonna make a BIGGER ONE that the kids in the back of the room can see?
