I built this MM for my Son Jon almost two years ago. Construction was straight forward save for a few additions. Fins were laminated with 110/lb card stock. The stock couplers were scrapped and were all replaced with 6" long each coupler material from BMS that are only friction fit, no glue. Lastly, it is center break with mesh baffle. The only two motors it's flown on are F24's and F39's.

Here is my Mini Mean machine. Fun little rocket to build but I really feel like the mini should have been BT50 so I'll just need to build my own :)

Construction was simple enough. I ditched the stock motor mount for a a simple thrust ring setup so I can run 18mm motors. The fins were also moved back about a 1/8 inch so the rocket now sits with the fins touching the table. Basically the lower tips of the fins are now even with the bottom of the body tube.

Next I replaced the short body tube coupler that is supplied with a longer piece cut from some stock I have from BMS. I felt like it made it easier to keep the tubes aligned. A tri-fold mount was also installed with 100# Kevlar leader attached just above the coupler. 1/8" elastic is attached to that and out to the nose cone.

For paint I went with Duplicolor Deep Metallic Blue and Gloss white. The pic doesn't do the colors justice. The stock Mini Mean Machine name was used but the remainder of the graphics were cut from Vinyl.

This one has 4 flights to date. First was the A10-3T using an adapter. The next two B6-6s's and the last was a C6-7. I used a foil streamer on the C6-7 flight as is was out of sight almost instantly.

I believe this photo is one of the B6-6 flights. I personally feel the B6-6 is the perfect motor for this rocket.

BT-50 upscale coming soon.

Anyone have upscales of the The Mean Machine? I would think an 8 ft tall, fat version, all fiberglass, using H motors would be cool.

I "had" a 3.1' upscale mean machine. It was built from non-reinforced LOC tubes with a 54mm motor mount. It stood 13 feet tall and flew on a J250FJ on it's first and only flight. The body tube gave way at the av bay joint and it taco'd about 500 feet up. A carbon fiber wrapped rebuild with a longer av bay is in the works.

I'll post a pic when I get home from work.

Not sure yet, I may downsize the MMT to a 38mm, but I really like the 54mm J's...

I'll probably build it with a 54 then adapt down if necessary. This is a long term goal, I probably won't start building until it cools off a bit in the fall. My garage gets up over 100 degrees in the summer time. (Arizona)
