I was just curious as to whether Estes engines in the diamond shaped tubes they use come in are worth anything? That is, are they worth more than they were at the time they were made.
Thanks.

Hey, I have some of those in the diamond shaped tube.

I don't know if they are worth anything, but they work just fine. :D

I also have some in the older round blue mailing tubes they used to come in. (green tubes for D13's)

Yep, they're collectables, though not as valuable as blue (round) tube motor packages (estes even has a nose cone for that tube :) )

Unless they are of a rare (discontinued) motor and/or you are a collector, I would either sell 'em or burn 'em :) Selling is a problem as you don't have a way to ship them easily...

I have blue tubes of B14-0, B14-5, and B14-6.

Where would you ever get a chance to use them? They haven't been certified for many years so you can't use them at a sanctioned launch.

I bought them because they were the recommended engines for this:

show off! ;)

very kewl. I have the same motors, but have long since lost my cameroc. I *do* have a 3.1:1 upscale of it (with 2 stage delta vehicle) that carries a 35mm though :)

Here is a picture of it along with an upscale USS Grissom, Mars Snooper, Astrocam (with 35mm) on a 3:1 port-a-pad, Cameroc, Scout and Orbital Transport at a Pearl River seminar

and here it is launching (single stage) at Pearl River (we didn't have much of a field :)

but they were certified when they were sold ,, they don't go uncertified over time do they?

nevermind ,, I read up on it , good for 3 years after cessation of manufacture

When they are no longer produced, the certification expires after some period of time.

I'm sure there is someone on the forum who knows the procedure.

I have been told that my A10-0T's are no longer certified either.
Does anyone know if that is a fact? I have a 13mm two stage (Midget) that uses them.

So what you are saying is that if I have some old motors that I want to sell, I would have to make arrangements to meet at a launch or something like that. That would mean somebody who is fairly local.

I have a full tube of D13-3's and a full tube of D13-5's and a tube with two D13-3's. I am not a collector so I would be willing to sell these or even trade these for D12's that are certified.

Yep, that's correct (as far as my understanding goes). I tried to go through the paper work via the post office to be able to ship them and finally gave up (just wasn't worth it...)

D13's, eh?? I may just have to talk to you about a pack. The one motor that I *don't* have :)

I'm not sure what theses motors are. I just was able to look at them breifly. They belong to the local Civil Air Patrol wing. Its part of their GOB of engines. I told the commander that I was sure they were collecters items.
Looks like its been a while since they had a rocketry program. I may get the chance to help them burn up some of those motors, but I think I'll make them hang on to those in the Diamond paks for now........Larry

Thanks for the replys. For some reason I didn't get email notices that there were responces to this thread.
