Estes - EAC Viper (#0820) Gallery

The EAC Viper was the very first rocket I ever built - back in '77 (circa). I was so proud of it, and flew it probably 15 times before it got stuck in a tree and was unrecoverable. I recently made a clone of it - pics attached - there are some areas near the front finlets that need "touching up" but otherwise it looks exactly like the one I built 40+ years ago. The things you can do with ink-jet printer waterslide decal paper and a scanner. Sometimes when I want to matchup the paint to the decal on clones like this, I will scan the decal and use PSP (or the equivalent) and change the color to match the paint I have. For the purple/pink, I used Krylon Fusion gloss "hot pink", and for the yellow I used Rust-oleum 2x gloss "golden sunset".

Also my first rocket circa 1976 or 1977! IIRC, the club membership came with a t-shirt, stickers, and cardboard range box.
