Several months ago the fine folks at Estes graciously shared a pre-production copy of their new DARC-1 kit, and I put together a pretty extensive video highlighting an alternate approach to detailing, finishing, airbrushing, decaling, and weathering the model. Now that the kit is available the video can be shared:

It is a long video, but what an impressive number of techniques. I don't use an airbrush - at 70 maybe this old dog needs to learn new tricks - but I did learn a lot. Worth the time to watch and learn.

It's quite amazing how a few greebles add so much interest. I have two up and coming kits that have greebles included and I have to thank James for that. Always inspirational.

Superb video and paint job. I fear, though, that the drag added by the greebles will hinder the ability to use this rocket for altitude record attempts.
