Does anyone know if the fins on the Estes Colossus the same dimensions as the fins on the Estes Executioner?

The fins on the Colossus are (were) the same as the ones on the Maxi Alpha 3.
The Executioner fins were through the wall plywood.
The Colossus/Maxi Alpha 3 fins were plastic.
Don't know if the dimensions were the same but templates for the Executioner are here:

And templates for the Maxi Alpha 3 are here:

You can print both out and compare.

Laters.

Thanks, just by looking closer at the two of them I can tell they are different dimensions.

Literally, the same. Not just the same size.

If you are considering cloning the Colossus, go with wood fins that have the same profile.

Just for future reference the Executioner fins are not the same dimensions as the Colossus fins.

Executioner Fins are DIFFERENT shape than Colossus Fins. The Executioner fins are longer and more sweptback.

That is correct. I had one in the 1980's, and a NIB one now. Plus, I've had the Maxi-Alpha 3. Currently, you can grab Black Versions from the "Red Flare" kit #1954, currently available from Estes, but I suspect it will be out of production soon....so I nabbed a dozen kits to make some Colossus Clones.

They looked similar, but I hadn't actually compared them....I'll get to it.....

I'm RIGHT, they ARE Identical. Shown overlaid onto Vintage NIB Colossus Fins, and again next to a Clone with Balsa Fins that I build several years ago.
(So, you were wrong).

kuririn answered the question on September 18th. The Colossus was a stretched Maxi Alpha III. Exact same fin can, part number 33210 (https://estesrockets.com/instructions/). While the Red Flare fins have a different part number, 33389, the pictures posted by Red7fifty sure look the same. It's not unheard of for Estes to change part numbers for the same part over the years.

Just finished mine....

That scheme was my inspiration for this 13mm powered interpretation of the Centuri Design Manual plan for Achilles...
