Estes Argent with a G74-6: Stability margin of 6.08 caliber a concern?

See what happens if you substitute a 2.5-inch nose cone for the upper portion. It kind of makes it into a "Part-of-zon," but that's actually a cool rocket. Pretty cheap to order one from Estes right now. Under $10, I expect. You can just find K'Tesh's Partizon sim and copy the NC components into a copy of your sim file.

Dual deploy is the way to go on a small field. An Eggtimer Quark is cheap.

Look at the F52 as well as the F67. Maybe even Quest F41.

Metallic cases weigh more and reduce stability. You definitely want the 29/40-120.

I believe the HPR 29/100 and 29/60 cases are odd length increments and you can't run those reloads in a 29/180 with the RAS. You can go to 29/120 starting with either 29/180 or 29/240.

@SolarYellow I kind of went the opposite way, but your point is well taken. This is what I've got planned (I have the 2 inch tubes and couplers, as well as plywood for the fins and the CRs:

I'll check on a 2.5 inch nose cone. This would in effect give me a Pro Cherokee with wider fins. For the design shown in the OR sketch above, I have a plan for a removable 29mm engine mount in the top section. This would allow me to fly the top section separtely. If I got the 2.5 nose cone I'd have two rockets flyable in three configurations. Since my original quest was to reduce overstability, I'd probably have to add a lead ring at the top of the CR, or canards to my new nosecone.

I have not had problems that I needed to add rear weight or canards to reduce stability.

This is a 5.38:1 CAL Scat Cat rocket, 26% Fineness ratio. Flies fine even in Kansas wind on J motors, or G motors in Michigan [7.45 Cal]

I find fineness 25% ratio fine for darts, Pasture or Desert. This is a 54mm LOC tube with Acme Fin can, AV bay in the coupler, tracker in the nose.

I needed the tracker, it landed in some real tall grass at the Rocket Pasture, and I rode my ATV around the circle of wild flowers and figger' out where it had to be. My friend stopped by* and asked where I thought it was as I was sitting on the ATV. I said straight into there a ways. He walked about 10 feet in and there it was.

* That circle of weeds was in an Area lots of rockets seemed to be landing, lots of company in the area searching about.

** @WizardOfBoz , Two 2.5" Estes Tubes and the Argent fins make a very nice about Cherokee G. I even ordered the Cherokee Vinyl Stickers for mine I need to put on yet. So get a 2.5" nose cone to have yet another choice. Don't add lead to the centering ring or canards to the nose. These are flying just fine with them.
