I just ordered a bunch of ARTF two-packs from Estes, and they come with a free booster add-on. Estes say they require the D12-0, but can you use C11-0? Or does that not provide enough thrust for the combined weight?

Thanks.

I have, but only on a rigged up Prospector to Booster. It flew well on a C11-0 to C6-5 combo and a C11-0 to B6-4 combo. It was SLOW off the rod though, so low wind day would be best.

Looking at the thrust curves, the D12 gets up to 30 Newtons in about 0.28 seconds, whereas the C11 only gets to 22 N at about 0.3 seconds. Pretty significantly different. The D12 can take about 5.6 more ounces of total weight.

My setup is VERY similar to this one.

I've only got video of mine with the D12-0. But it has gone on a C11 twice. :)

I don't know about the C11-0, but I've successfully flown a Red Rider with the booster using a C6-0 and the plastic 24-18mm adapter.

I have had quite a few good flights using C11-0 with A8-5 and B6-4. However I do recall launching a Drifter with C11-0 and A8-5 and it veered so hard off the launcher that I have no idea where it landed... LOL

You will want to consider venting the booster so that it doesn't stage before the upper stage. See earlier threads on this same subject.....
