I got my new base antenna and USB-UART cable this evening. I popped a little extra money for a CP2102 chip based adapter -with- a cable. It took a minute on the web to find the drivers- but now it’s good to go.

thats cool. whats the range on this chip you are using?

I had a fun night testing my GPS. I put it in my wifes car, then had her go park somewhere. As soon as the green light on the reciever started to blink, about 1/4th to half mile, i then used google maps to find the gps unit.

I’m using the same receiver you are - but I put an SMA connector on it and have it cabled to a car top mag-mount antenna. The antenna is the part that should give me better range.

The chip change I mentioned is in the blue USB cable. It’s not the Prolific chip that we’ve both had driver problems with. It’s a Silicon Industries chip. Eggtimer rocketry is transitioning to usb adapter cables based on this chip - I picked up a slightly different one from Amazon.
