I would be curious to know how long it takes most folks to assemble these. Starting from a clean (I use that word loosely) workbench and needing to collect my iron, build mat, third hand, tweezers, etc., I built a Quark in about 1 1/2 hours the other night.
With all my tools out, and the kit pre-inventoried, it took me 45-50 minutes to do everything except the screw switch and pigtail.

That doesn’t include any testing, just the soldering work.

And I agree, the 0805 components are tiny. I actually think the drivers on the Quark are just as difficult, just because of how small the pads are. The pads for the drivers on something like the Quantum are much more forgiving.

I have another one to build and I'll time myself to see how long it takes me--since I have everything still setup, I think it will go much quicker than the first.
I can get a Quark a little under an hour. Quantum a little over an hour. Eggfinger Mini about an hour. Proton takes me longer, and I've not aseembled a Quasar yet. Hoping to lower my build times with more practice, but there is no reason or benefit to rushing.

I like to draw it out since I love to solder, don't get the opportunity much...

I have a few Eggtimer projects under my belt at this point. I think I've assembled 9 or 10 Quantum's, 1 classic, 1 Proton, 2 WiFi switches, 3 telemetry units, 4 Eggfinder TX Minis, 2 LCD GPS Rx, voice module, and LCD RX with the Bluetooth module.
I can assemble a Quantum in about 2 hours. I enjoy it. Turn on some music, maybe a beverage. I take my time.

For us assembly challenged old folks, a thru the wall, easy to assemble, basic dual deploy altimeter would be a nice addition to the product line.

Something closer to the Quark? That's basically what's in the EZ-DD kit...

I know you aren't currently, but will you ever sell the electronics without the rocket?

As long as we're making product suggestions, an Apogee that would run a chute release, enabling it to be used like a JLCR, would be awesome. The current plan for such an application is a Quark, but simpler/easier/cheaper is always good. Maybe the board could be a different color or something, just to make it harder to get the two units confused.

If we are still making suggestions. Smaller Apogee. Go half the size, all surface mount, or however it happens. Smaller is desired.

looks like the link to it is not working for me?
I've had the trouble with the link, because my browser (chrome) thinks the zip file is dangerous and won't download it. If I right click and try to save the link, it will then tell me an insecure download was blocked, but there is a place next to that in your downloads that says "keep", and pressing that will download. Again, this is specific to chrome on some computers for me.

@cerving : Do you ship right away after pulling a tracking number, or can there be a lag?

For my package, Cris created a label on Nov 30 but the post office didn’t scan it until it got to Dallas last night (and out for delivery this morning). So I’d check your tracking number today since it might show up as we are similar-ish distance from California, but YMMV.

You nailed it! So the post office apparently never scanned it until today... it is out for delivery now. Thanks for the tip @MProcket!

Yes, this is happenin' to me as well. Raythain is in Yipsi and made label to send me completed egg tracker he soldered for me. It did not show up in the website as shipped until it hit the Toledo distro center.

Same when I sent him the package, it did not show I shipped it until it got to Michigan center.

YET I had the Scan Receipt from the post office where I had the Lady scan it.

Something weird is going on, it should not take days for a package I had scanned at the post office desk to show up instead of saying "Label has been made, waiting for the Post Office to get it"

I don't know if this is happening to you, but I often notice the links that get sent out, don't work or say "label created, waiting on shipment." This is not just ET stuff, this is USPS in general. I can often get a different result if I go to the USPS website and cut/paste my tracking number. I'm not sure if its browser issues, anti-bot stuff with USPS, or what, but that process often yields a different result than clicking a link provided by a vendor or linked in an email.

most of us, small businesses are using some sort of e-commerce platforms like Shopify or Shop. Once orders are received, we can choose how to ship, and the tracking number is automatically created, and an email is sent instantaneously. At that point, the orders have to be gathered, boxed/packaged, and delivered to the carrier. This doesn't mean the carrier has it yet. I don't envy Cris, who has hundreds of orders to get ready to ship. So its possible you have a tracking, but it has not shipped yet.

Even larger businesses do much of the same.

I have some places I order from where I can tell that at the end of the day, they print out all the shipping labels for the next day's picking & packing.

But that is not the issue here. The issue is that businesses or folks are taking items to the post office already boxed and label printed that shows up 'label created, USPS waiting on item" on the USPS website.

We then take it to the post office and have the nice lady scan it in and give us a receipt that they received it.

BUT, BUT the website does not show any activity on it till the package gets to the next town in the travel list, it sits at: "Label created, USPS waiting on item"

This happens even on my K8XG, LLC business account with the USPS

I have not see this much I guess. This order I got yesterday at 3.05pm, I happen to be sitting at my desk, processed the shipping at 3.06pm and dropped it off at the post office at 3.30 today.... everything seems up to date on this one.

I have been seeing it mostly on, some off , most of November. I have seen it from folks sending me items as well as items I have taken to post

I think it's just a case of systems being swamped and scans getting queued up to get into their system.
