Eggtimer Mini Switch - A Smaller WiFi Switch

Eggtimer Rocketry is proud to announce the pending availability of the Eggtimer Mini Switch, a smaller and scaled down version of our very popular WiFi Switch. Like the WiFi Switch, the Mini Switch can turn on your electronics from up to 100' away, using virtually any WiFi/browser enabled device. It displays your battery voltage on the web page, and uses a 4-digit arming code that changes every 60 seconds to turn it on/off... it's impossible to "pocket switch". To bring the size and cost down, we've left off the continuity checking circuitry... from what we've heard, not that many of you used it anyway. It's designed to be permanently wired to your AV sled, without terminal blocks, saving size, weight, and cost. It measures a mere 1.50" x .75", and weighs only 5 grams. Like all Eggtimer Rocketry products, it's sold as a kit... it's in the middle of our 1 to 5 degree of difficulty scale, mainly because it has small 0805 sized parts.

Price for the Mini Switch kit is $15, however we're going to be selling them for a mere $12 during the introductory period, through June 14th. We're expecting our final PC boards by the end of May, and shipping by the first week of June.

Does this WiFi switch have some type of a mechanical disconnect option in order to meet TRA requirements or does one still have to connect battery at pad?

Any mechanical disconnect that you may need to add would most likely be done between your battery and the Mini Switch, but of course that's up to your particular implementation. In the case of using a Mini Switch with an airstart timer, for example, you would have the igniter disconnected prior to putting the rocket on the pad anyway, so by the TRA rule you do not need a mechanical disconnect in the Mini Switch-Timer connection.

It's between 30mA and 70mA, depending on what it's doing. I'd love to see it be lower, but WiFi is notoriously power hungry.
