I've stated doing a series where I build and test EggTimer products and just posted the 1st video live.
It's the EggFinder LCD!

I’d recommend using the best soldering iron you can afford.
Also use a larger tip. It seems that a micro tip should be best, but a wider chisel type tip is better especially with those big tabs on parts like the voltage regulators.
The bigger tips get the pad and tab up to working temperature faster so ultimately you put less heat through the components
