Hi,

Currently building a 30k target minimum diameter rocket. We're trying to look into the aerodynamic effects of having vent holes on the airframe, and if the disturbances in airflow would induce any significant drag. Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks!

Unless your altimeter is strictly accelerometer based, you'll need vent holes in your AV bay for the barometric sensors to sample.

Our vent holes are for our oxidizer tank venting system. This system would only vent on the ground, but the holes of course would stay during flight. We have some play with vent valve sizing, which is why we're looking into the effects of holes on the aerodynamics of the rocket.

Well, with an oxidizer tank, your over my head. We use vent holes for barometric sensors on our altimeters for parachute deployment. No idea what you guys got going on... Peace out...
