My EasyMega beep code volume is so low I can barely hear it outside the rocket even if I put my ear right next to it (which
is not advised)! Is this just something wrong with my EasyMega or are they all like this? Is there any easy way to increase
the volume of the beeps? I have already tried adjusting the frequency in AltOS.

I would email the manufacturer but past experience has led me to believe I will get my answer faster on the forum.
 
With my Easy Minis I've found that the volume is HIGHLY dependent on the frequency that you choose for the beeps. The higher the frequency, the lower the volume.

Maybe try adjusting that feature and see what happens?
 
I have an EasyMega and I find the low volume to be annoying. It's particularly annoying when I turn on an EasyMega that is 20' up in the air using a wifi switch. You have to be next to it to hear the beeps, which defeats the purpose of the wifi switch.

My solution has been to tape an FM transmitter over the switch hole. These come in the little headsets, and I just borrow the portion that has the microphone and transmitter. Then, from the ground, I have a portable ratio that I can listen to at whatever volume is necessary to hear the beeps. I put a string on the microphone and pull it off before launch. I do this on all of my high altitude flights.

I confess that at one point, I was so desperate to solve this problem that I bought two ear horns from Amazon (they didn't work).

That's an excellent idea! Gonna scope out a transmitter on Amazon. Do you have a recommendation?

I asked this question of Bdale not long ago. Here's his reply:

"Not easily. We've looked hard, and the TDK piezoelectric beepers we're
currently using are the best option for our needs. The sound pressure
level is limited because they're running at 3.3 volts.

We experimented on TeleMega v5.0 with a different beeper that's magnetic
instead of piezoelectric. It operates at 2 kHz instead of 4 kHz, which
means the same sound pressure level is perceived as being much louder by
many people who are losing high frequency hearing (most of us!).

The big problem we discovered is that the permanent magnet in those
beepers is strong enough to saturate the 3-axis magnetic sensor that's
part of our products with IMU, which include TeleMega, EasyMega, and
EasyTimer. Fortunately, we don't actually use the magnetic data in the
current firmware during flight, but losing that data entirely isn't
great. So, we'll be going back to the piezo beepers for future builds
of products with magnetic sensors.

Unfortunately, it's not easy to just try one of those on an existing
product, because the pins are larger in diameter and spaced differently
than the pins on the piezo beepers, meaning they won't just fit into the
board. You can set essentially any beeper frequency you want in the
firmware, so if you want to try one off-board or something, you
certainly could.

For a product prototype I'm working on, I just created a new footprint
in our PCB software that will allow me to load either the piezo or the
magnetic beepers. We're likely to use that on all future products if it
works out ok.

I hope this helps explain the situation. Every few months, we re-survey
the market looking for something louder .. but in the last decade, have
come up empty every time.

Personally, I just always fly our products with radios like TeleMetrum
and TeleMega, so I can look at the telemetry and see that everything's
happy before launch...
