Years ago, I emailed Gary Wright a couple of times using an email address on his web site and he actually answered my questions about working with Harry Nilsson. How cool is that?
When Nilsson started working with famed producer Richard Perry in London, one of the first songs they decided to record was "Without You."
Rick Wakeman recorded a piano track for "Without You" but Nilsson decided that it was in the wrong key and was just "too busy." So, Nilsson and Perry brought in Gary Wright who performed a beautiful simple piano track. The song became a huge hit for Nilsson.
