My scratch-built oddroc. This is one of a few of my scratch builds, but this one is, so far, my most odd. Its flown 8 times, ranging from an A8-3 to a C6-3. It got quite a bit of attention at our last launch at Sod Farm. Any Questions?

Odd-Roc section is actually brand-new. I think it's less than 2 months old now.

You're getting in on the GROUND FLOOR!!! :cyclops:

Launch #3 was recovered easily, but now its got flight fright. Our hobby is 'rocketry', not 'rocket-tree'...Back to the A's on this launch. More to come. (I'd use the 'popcorn' guy, but.....)

Our neighbors think we're nuts...I guess this proves it.

Please do make flights after dusk without some sort of lighting onboard that illuminates the flight from liftoff to touch down. this is not for the modelers recovery of the model but for the safety of other and particularly general avaition aircraft that may be in the area.

Don't spoil what it's taken many of us so LONG to be allow to do, that is make night flights. All it takes is a couple calling FAA screw it up for everyone.

Night flying rules have been made so much easier starting just the past year, Please follow them by illuminating your birds with some sort of external illumination that can be seen for a minimum of 500mcds @ 2000feet . a few simple LED's, strobe EL wire or panels, LED novelity, and jewlery or even Hi brightness cylume (Glow Sticks) will work.
The important thing is the model must remain visible from lift-off to touch-down. Check out any of the Night flight web sights and other threads.
Please fly SAFETY FRIST always.

Yes, John, I agree. It wasn't as nearly as dark as it appeared on the video. I've found that the video quality is (highly) degraded when uploaded to U-tube. We actually could see the entire flight. We do have a few of our rockets retro-fitted with (removable) lighting. I'll post and upload videos our 'night-flights-with-lights' in another, future post.

Just so we're on the same page, with no misunderstanding of the FAA's use concerning the definition of "sunset".
Sunset occurs when the sun disappears below the Visible horizon. At that point; All model rocket flights MUST have "launch to touch down" external lighting. Please understand this has nothing to do with our seeing the models during flight, far from it, its a safety measure for the general aviation flying community.
Many of us have worked long and hard with the FAA to get the dust to dawn restriction (BAN) on model rocket flights re-written. Please don't abuse the privilege... possibly wrecking it for others:)
Remember it's not always friendly folks looking (Watching) at U-tube.
If you looking for illumination systems and/or power supplies I'm always happy to help. We even have LED Illuminated Micors;)
Thanks.
