Here's a tribute to DEVO from the 80's, the decade that produced the best music. This was my first experience with a lathe, and I can tell you, if you don't have one, GET ONE!!! Very fun, very cool, and I plan to crank out many more ODD rockets soon. I'll never BUY another nose cone or transition.

Watch how the "real" ones are made:

Now, why the red ones are made in England and the blue ones are made in North Carolina I do not know...

The blue domes made in North Carolina look to me to be of similar color to one of the universities in North Carolina. Coincidence?

Duty Now For The Future.

It's The Rocket U Want.

Ha. The furry convention near Detroit last year had an 80's theme. A number of the fursuiters wore DEVO garb in the parade out to the parking lot where someone brought a DeLorean. Lost of Devolvement.

I'm just impressed that u turned them rather than using different sized body tubes. Fun build. I love taking a new bird to a launch that nobody has ever done or seen.

THose are cheapie aftermarket hats. Don't ask me how I know.

But they are made the way the real one WERE made. and the same exact way the NEW ones are made. except the new "hats" also get a coat of paint and a cool DECAL.. (let see last count I made 6000 of the decals)

Back on track WAY COOL rocket. I always wanted to do a saucer out of one of the hats.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw this thread. Don't ask me how I knew those two videos were on youtube, because I couldn't tell you. When I saw the cost of these hats (be they official or not) I bailed on the saucer project idea, at least turning one of these vac-formed hats into a saucer.

Saucers have been made and launched. Some made from built up rings and others made from actual energy domes. One of them is autographed and appeared at our last after-launch lunch at Jack-In-The-Box.

Jynell Jackson is the rocket powered energy dome Queen. She flew one or more of them at the last NARAM in CO.

She never posts. Perhaps I need to e-mail her about this thread?

Lynell's Energy Domes are usually mid powered, so we'll see what forum that discussion ends up in (if any). Very cool looking with with the 24mm BlackJack reload.
