Without blasting the gel to pieces! Instead, it remains completely intact.

Back in the Mid-70's I had the opportunity to use detonator cord with real nitroglycerin dynamite and blasting caps. You would take a wood dowel to press a cylindrical recess in one end if the stick of dynamite, then insert the primacord and then tape a blasting cap to the detonator cord and electrically ignite it.
Some of the dynamite sticks were leaking nitroglycerin. They would sweat out nitroglycerin. Surprised I'm still here.
