Then someone will ask for an extension (and I don't mean you ;)). I find it interesting how many of the designs should be familiar to TRF members despite the designers being anonymous on the contest site :)

None will be granted... I'm probably done with RMR Descon. Too much to manage with EMRR's growth and now Model Minutes US.

Yeah, I wonder if anyone will take it over. I was a little diappointed that all entries but one came in at the 10th, or 11th hour so to speak. Nick, if nobody takes it over, are you going to archive the history and interviews over on EMRR along with the reviews?

I have the following comments about the above and other entries:

I thought my top 3 choices were fantastic. If I would have voted sometime later or earlier, these 3 rockets might have appeared in a different order. Tough to pick from. What may have put Project Pluto over the top for me though was the story as well as the detailed build information & pics. Project Orion also had a highly detailed build process & a unique look to it as well. Calypso was perhaps the most flexible of the bunch motor selection-wise as well as using some readily available parts--although cutting the MMT holes in the FB NC (which was used as a tailcone-like transition) would be a nightmare to recreate!

Congratulations to all of the Descon mystery participants for a job well done!

I think the Pluto was fantastic and I liked the design methods on the Python. I just like them little ones sometimes so #3 got my vote.

I have the following comments about the above and other entries:

I loved the non-steering fins in the Python.

Outstanding detail work in Goodbye Kitty and a rocket to generate interest in rocketry--the best kind of all!

Calypso--very creative use of cluster configuration. Could have placed higher with a snazzy finish.

The Barbsari B-Prize was close--love the lipstick outboards!

Project Orion Test Vehicle--would have finished in the top three if actual flight was like the video of the prototype!

All the other rockets were great!

I have the following comments about the above and other entries:
Project Pluto - Love the styling with the wings, belly scoop, and canards. Great craftsmanship making the belly scoop. Beautiful paint job.

Python 4 - At first I wasn't impressed since Estes makes a Python kit. After reading the writeup describing the challenges of the pivoting front fins, I appreciate the amount of engineering that went into it. Plus, the scale-like finish is quite good.

Project Orion - I like rockets that don't look like rockets. Great challenge making something as ungainly as this fly.

Ring Wraith - Great finish, and the spiked fins look wicked!

Generation Ship Calypso - I like the ring fin, tail cone, and variety of engine options. With a better paint job this could have been in my top 3.

While the ModROCs were fun and interesting, I think the Python 4 design effort
makes this one a winner!

I also felt #11 Generation Ship Calypso was an interesting design and rated it my 4th choice.

The Python because of the ingenious forward fin design and its success.
The Orion and Pluto were close for me, both because of the excellent modelling.

I thought the Python 4 presented an interesting innovation that solves a problem that plagues many air-to-air and air-to-ground missile scale projects. Swiveling forward fins presents some interesting possibilities.

The Project Orion Test Vehicle presents an interesting and unusual shape that shouts 'space exploration'.

The Zvezdotchka-ACM-Target is a stylistic masterpiece. It was nicely thought out and executed.
