I've been using Delta Ceramcoat All-Purpose Sealer for sanding sealer for a number of years and it's done a really good job for us. I especially like it for kids because it's so low odor that I can actually get them to use it. :) I just bought a number of bottles to use this year and found it to be much runnier and very bluish-white as compared to the past. I grabbed a bottle from another store and it's the same.

Does anyone know if it has been reformulated? If so, I don't think I'm going to like this runnier version for kids.

Are you sure that you got the same product, the All Purpose Sealer? I haven't looked for it recently, because I bought several bottles a few years ago that I am still using, so I don't know if Delta reformulated it. But for the life of me, I cannot imagine why they would choose to, or would need to, do that. Delta does make other varieties of sealer, too.

Yes, I'm sure it's the same. I still have the bottles from last year.

Pippen:
I just open a "New" bottle purchased at least a year ago and it's the same slightly bluish-white, considerably thinner material your discribing, not nearly as opaque white or thick as the older stuff.
Ya find something that kinda works and someone up and changes it... Story of life isn't it....LOL!

Isn't that the truth!

Thanks for the thoughts. I emailed the company last week and haven't heard back so I'm supposing I'm being ignored.

I spoke too soon. Just checked my email and found this note of explanation from a Customer Care Representative:

"Hello,

This is a newer formulation.

Regards,"

I haven't tried it out yet but I'm bummed because what I liked about it was the thicker liquid didn't drip all over the place and was easy for kids to handle.

Are there any other inexpensive, low odor sanding sealers on the market?

Used the new stuff over the weekend, it does drip a good bit more then the old stuff....from the brush just dipped and seems to run more on the model:(, but seems to do about the same sealing job. haven't tried to sand it yet tho, We'll see when I get back to these models.

I've had a number of kids use it and while it still seals the wood, it's harder for them to use since it's runnier, it doesn't fill grain as well as the old stuff, and it leaves a rougher surface to sand (the original formulation barely needed sanding if they did it carefully).

Big thumbs down from me for this new formula. I'll be searching for something else for next year.
