does anyone have links to any site that gives specs of the delta 2 rocket that put the rover on Mars??

I've googled it and found only info on fuel type thrust power, but nothing on the dimentions of the vehicle it self. I'm hoping one of you can help me out

Nighteagle,

The "Spirit" (MER-A) was launched on a Delta II 7925, and the "Opportunity" (MER-B) was launched on a Delta II 7925-H (H for heavy).

The H version is identical except for having larger GEM's (Graphite Epoxy motors) needed because the MER-B required more total impulse due to the later launch date.

There is a measured drawing of the Delta II in Peter Alway's "Rockets of the World".

On the web, there is some info here:

https://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/launch_vehicle.html

...also, check Boeing's website; I don't have the URL handy, but you can get a very detailed diagram of the payload fairing from the Payload Planner's Guide for the Delta II, which used to be available online as a huge PDF.

If I can dig up anything else I'll post it here.

Try this site for detailed info on the Delta series of rockets, EXCLUDING the newest Delta lV - Kevin has an excellent collection of data:

https://www.kevinforsyth.net/delta

Kevin's secondary page has a history of the Delta series :

https://www.kevinforsyth.net/delta/delta2.htm

If you need more, try these:

https://www.spaceandtech.com/spacedata/elvs/delta2_sum.shtml

https://www.boeing.com/defense-space/space/delta/delta2/delta2.htm

This page has the Payload planner's guide for all of the Delta series of rockets - care of Boeing. This has a ton of detail and specs for each series of Delta rockets.

Images are here as well :

Specifically here:

Hope that helps,
