Is there a story behind that? Even if they didn't work, its a cool look for a rock show.
I haven't been able to find any information on it. it would be extremely difficult to get a cone that big to be operational, so it's obviously just for decoration. Is there a story behind that? Even if they didn't work, its a cool look for a rock show.
Sandy.
I remember hearing about the Grateful Dead 'wall of sound' but that was regretfully before my time and did seem very plausible as it was an array of real units. I wish I had become a fan when Jerry was still alive, but regretfully my introduction to the band was near/after his death.I haven't been able to find any information on it. it would be extremely difficult to get a cone that big to be operational, so it's obviously just for decoration.

Sandy: I bought an old vpi 16 for $75.00 years ago and just start this week to make the repairs on it so that I can use it on my last 450 records I'm down to. Once I get all of my records cleaned maybe I'll make you do a super deal on it.
sure I will send you some pictures in a p.m. showing what problems my unit hasI *believe* I bought the suction tube and edge seal stuff from VPI on the DIY version I planned to build years ago. If you want me to check and see if I'm remembering correctly, I'll check and see if any of the parts I bought would be helpful in your refurbish.

I've now got 14 Mirage speakers, and didn't really plan on it. Sounds great overall to these damaged, worn out ears.@hobie1dog In response to your new avatar, I thought I had a pair of 6" bookshelfs around here to post a picture of... No Mirages to be found, I must have sold them at some point... I guess the gray hair is catching up faster than expected!
I have a pair of Mirage Acoustics (Canadian) speakers I bought in 1980. They still sound great.I've now got 14 Mirage speakers, and didn't really plan on it. Sounds great overall to these damaged, worn out ears.

W90 models?I've got a pair of huge old Wharfedales coming, not that I need them. What I need is a place to put them!
W90 models?
there's quite a following for those on the audiokarma site but I have never got to hear those. so how in the world did you come across two pairs of them?W-70's, not quite as wide as the 90's. Possibly two pair, I'm not sure yet.
Mirage SM-3's.which models?
so how in the world did you come across two pairs of them?

Its ironic how I unintentionally downgraded my system during the time period due to perceived improvement/sales job vs real improvements.
