Hello, this is my first time posting on this forum.
I resently started building model rockets again (BAR).
Right now I'am working on an Estes Jupiter-C, trying
to come up with a good way of applying all the decals.
If I sprayed it flat white and black, then coated the rocket
with futue floor wax, applied the decals, then sprayed it
with testors dullcoat, does this sound right? Would I
run into any problems?

Applying decals are best applied on a smooth gloss surface . I use Microscale Industries Micro Set decal Setting Solution most Hobbyshops carry this brand. After decals have dried overnight I use Testos Dull Coat this hides the decal edges then you can apply Clear finish of your choice.

And Welcome to TRF.... Best darn rocket site on the Planet...

:D

Don't use flat paint...save a step.

Use gloss paint then apply the decals. Decals like gloss paint! Decals HATE flat paint!

Wait at leat 2 or 3 weeks before you apply the Testor's dull coat. You want the white paint to be fully cured first or it will yellow badly.

Set it somewhere and forget about it!

I use the sniff test...if you can smell paint...it's not finished curing.

Thanks y'all , I've never used future floor wax before, I was going to try and use it to put a glossy finish on the rocket for the decals. something that drys fast, but then they might flake off
I don't know. I was trying to get around using gloss paint because, like you say, it takes so long to dry(gass out). I sprayed
a Nike-X gloss white, its been two weeks, and I can still smell it!

I have a couple of bottles of Micro set/sol I've never used.
Think I'll try them.
