I need to buy a gift for someone who lives in the DFW area. I'd like to get them a nice gift certificate for a resturaunt.

Any suggestions for popular places that might have an on-line presence?

Couldn't be easier.

$25 gift certificates at well over 100 DFW restautants, most of them $10. That is, you pay $10 for a $25 certificate.

Wife (she's from here) says: Pueblo Arriba for Tex-Mex, Lone Star Grill for American, especially their country fried steak, and Tony Roma's for both nice and Italian.

Tony Roma's isn't an italian restaurnat, it's a rib joint.

Campisi's is an italian restaurant, one with history. It's even been rumored among conspiracy theorists that Joe Campisi was in on the Kennedy shooting.
Too bad they don't seem to offer online gift certificates.

Yea, I've heard Bob's Steak and Shop House is very good. But if the receiptant of your gift is into high cuisine dining, I would recommend 'III Forks'. From the outside, you can tell the food is going to be expensive.

If they're into Thai food, 'Mango' is a SUPERB place. I don't think they have a website, but you can call them at (972)599-0289.

Fogo De Chao is also supposed to be VERY good. It's supposed to be an all you can eat 'fine meat' buffet. I think per person it costs $30.

Newport's has very good seafood. I think it's kind of pricey as well.

Yeah, Newport's is great! Not terribly pricy, just a little.

We have three kids. "Nice" to us is McD's or Wendy's or Taco Hell, maybe an occasional CiCi's.

Seriously, Dallas has some very nice (i.e., $$$$$$$$$$$$$$) places, and Fort Worth has a few too. Personally, I never saw much point in places like that, I'm not into that sort of thing.

There are plenty of others, many are nationally franchised. Would they like Romano's Mac Grill, or Chili's, or Applebee's? Maybe a place like Qdoba or Friday's?

North Dallas extends nearly to Oklahoma now . . . maybe you should be checking out websites for Native American Indian restaurants?

Bob's (as I recommended above) is great.

Truluck's is pretty good - although I could give you a couple finer seafood restaurants.

Don't ask me on Italian, Mexican, Tex-Mex, Cajun. I'm spoiled on Italian from St. Louis (where I grew up) which is a tad different from Italian everywhere else. So I don't eat it.

Mexican/ Tex-Mex is just that to me. No matter how you dress it up, it's just Mexican / Tex-Mex. And Cajun??? Let's not go there, unless we're in New Orleans.

Now, if you need a recommendation for a good Sushi Bar in DFW, I've got some suggestions for you.

She had it confused with Macaroni Grill, her other favorite.

My favorite used to be Casa Jose', a family owned southwestern/tex-mex. After two suspicious fires the owner gave up. Now his daughter has Estella's in Arlington. Most of the same family recipes.
