Can somebody point me to a source that describes a method for laying out custom paper transitions.

I am aware of Payloadbay but unfortunately the size I need 5” to a BT 70 and 4” long will not fit on any piece of paper I can print.

Open Rocket will split large transitions over multiple printed pages you can cut out and then glue/tape together.

The VCP software has been around a while and will print on several sheets of paper that you can print and tape together for a template.

This one I haven't used much but it makes a PDF file that will work the same way providing your print options will allow you several pages to print on. Like above, a template could be made to trace on to heavier stock.

Hope these help.

Thanks, these will help if I can find someone with a computer on which these will actually work.

Sadly that doesn’t include the one I use. HamStar Whirly Wheel X-10000 running Windows Paleolithic.
I think the internet connection is two soup cans and a piece of string.

You do have to be of a certain age to get the soup can and string reference. I doubt many youngsters today ever played around with that “technology”.
