I won this kit at last months launch as a participant door prize. It is a neat kit with a unique look. I will likely upscale it with a few of my own twists added to it, but that's a discussion for another day.

The only gotchas with this kit we're the following:

• Some of the forward fins we're not the same size for some reason. I cut them all to match.

• The dowels were warped. I straightened them by sticking them into the spout of a boiling kettle of water and then clamped them in a routed slot in a board.

• The body tube was creased so I replaced it.

So here it is, assembled per the instructions, paint scheme and all. Launch is scheduled for this month, 10/22.IMG_20220918_150002396.jpg

This is one of those rockets I've always wanted to build but have never found one for sale a a reasonable price. I have the plans and scans of the decals so I might need to do one of these sooner or later.

Nice job on the build.

Even if you do a custom paint job it's worth building. You could even use adhesive backed scrap book paper and cut out the stock decal shapes. Go for it!

Thanks for the compliment!

Nice build of an interesting rocket!

I wonder how difficult it would be to modify it to be a two-stage, with the break in the fin(s) right between the two color panels of the fin decal...

Vey nice looking build. What does the chute look like, is it Mylar? That will be really visible in the air and on the ground.

David, I don't see why you couldn't split it there and make it a two stager.

Glen, the chute is mylar. I didn't think to take a picture of it. It will definitely be visible in the launch video if all goes as planned.

Nice build the old custom kits are fun. The 2 I have are pretty light so the supplied chutes are a little big unless you like a long walk. I've used a Comanche 3 streamer for years for recovery on the one Satellite Interceptor I have.

Maybe I should have sold it instead of building it! 😆

It would be simple enough to clone instead of buying one, and likely cheaper too.

I photocopied the parts and instructions, if that helps anyone.
