This is a shot from my son's club launch today... It's just
too cool not to post.

If I can get some details on the motor and rocket, I'll post
a followup.

Great picture! Looked like you had a beautiful day to launch rockets.

I'm guessing an AeroTech F21 White Lightning for the motor:D

Yep, sweet photo you have yourself there!

Either a AT F21 or Econojet F20 :D Looks like a scale lift-off too :p
Karl

Well, I don't think it was an F21... I thought I heard D18
or maybe G80. It was an AeroTech reload of some type- the
red ignitor cap was a hair too tight and it POPPED off
with a lotta noise. :)

I'll find out what it was for sure.

Yeah, well I didn't want to rub it it for those in the frozen tundra.... ;)

But today was 83 degrees. No humidity. Little wind. You can
see the (lack of) cloud cover.

We're making up for all the sasserfrassin' Hurricanes!

Beautiful rocket with a beautiful lift-off!

Thanks for sharing it with us! The one thing I love about club launches is all the cool shots you can take during lift offs. :D

Heard back from the builder- I'll let him tell the story-
Here's the scoop...

It is a scratch built 4" diameter heavy. I've flown in 6 or so times
now. It weighs 43 oz. fully loaded with an Aerotech G80 RMS White
Lightning. Recovery is done with 3 24" homemade ripstop nylon
parachutes (two of them made by my Mom- who loves to watch me fly
rockets)--I like redundancy.

I should have made it a rail launch bird, but it was my first attempt at
midsized machines, so it launches on a 1/4" rod. I made the nose cone
from a turned Balsa tip and construction grade wall insulating foam
covered with epoxy resin(after sealed with wood glue), and the tail cone
is the same, with 1/4" Plywood fins through body-turned by hand in my
hand drill with a jig and my calibrated eye. :) The airframe is just a
tube off the street! I even made the engine mount tube by hand. I
covered everything with epoxy resin and sanded for years!

I modeled it after my 34 year old Estes model V-2 kit built bird on a
2.5X upscale.

Tom

I'm even more impressed now

Hey it's not that bad up here today . . . we're in a heat wave; 36 degrees, ceiling (broken) 9,500, wind 9 kts, unrestricted vis., and combination of snow and ice on the ground - and the ski resorts are open

I think there is a mistake in the designation of a G80 RMS White Lightning. Do you mean G80 Fast WL single use? Or possibly a G64 WL reload? Just wondering because I can't say I've ever heard of a G80 WL RMS motor.
