Computer simulation software for solid rocket motors

When designing solid rocket motors, what computer simulation (e.g. CFD, heat transfer, chemical kinetic, etc.) software is used? I am looking to develop my own solid rocket motors so I just wanted to hear opinions on what software is most preferable for each application and which can be obtained for free by an engineering student.
