CMASS launch in Acton, MA this weekend! We fly from about 10:00 - 4:30 and serve hot dogs at noon.

With good weather we should see 80-100 folks out there having fun!

Who's going? I'll be there with a full booth.

My daughter and I will be seeing you and everyone else there. At least for now it looks like good weather, so hopefully it will be a great day!

I know the Acton site is mostly LPR, but will there be a 1010 rail set up? I have a couple MPR kits that can fly <1000 ft, but I only have rail buttons on them.

And does anyone know if Jason from AMW will be there?

Every time I've attended in Acton (4 times) there has typically been a 1010 rail set up at one of the mid power pads (usually pad 6 I think). I flew on it last month to just over 800'

I will confirm, there will be a 1010 rail set up available for motors up to F80 or G80.

Sadly, Jason will not be at the launch and, according to their calendar, Robert and Gloria are covering the MDRA launch in Maryland this weekend.

I'll be there (if the car doesn't fail me). Anybody know if there's been any rain there lately? Last time, the ground was so hard, I used streamers when I should've used chutes. I'd hate for my beautiful new Goblin to get broken on the first flight.

Also, I've signed up for LCO at 1, but I can do it earlier if I get there. I find I tend to run late to launches, so I decided to sign up for a later shift.

There has been some rain and there may be more before Saturday. Jim Salem reported some green recovering on the field.
Even with all this, it won't be a soft landing zone.

I live about 10 minutes (max.) away and can check the field anytime that you might need.

I haven't been over in that direction recently, but given that I live right in the local area, I'd agree, a bit of rain, a bit of green, but probably not that much 'soft' landing area. Chutes may be a good choice (except for lighter 13mm / mmx models).

Thanks for the heads up. I'll bring both.

I know the field is limited to G motors and below, but is there an altitude limit? This will be my first time at the Acton site, so I don't want to prep something tonight that would be obviously stupid.

There isn't a stated altitude limit but there are trees along one side of the field, crops across the street, houses at one end and Route 2 at the other. Depending on wind and drift, 2000-feet may be okay or 800-feet could be a problem. For your first time, it might be best to bring what you want but wait until you see the field and conditions before you prep too much.

What a great day of flying in Acton today. Despite a short rain delay, my son and I logged 21 flights. There were a few maiden flights and a few we launched a couple of times. My sons Custom Equinox flew on a D 12-3 then again on an E 9-6 . I launched my Dr Zooch Space Shuttle twice on C 6-3s. This is quickly becoming one of my favorites, I love how the orbiter glides back just like the real thing.
Thanks to Ken,Guy,Howard, Matt and everyone else that made today a fantastic day of flying rockets.

I couldn't agree more.

What a great day! It's a small field, so the JL Chute Release saved several of my flights.

Does anyone have pics of my Ventris (aka Hayden Fly) that flew on a G40 towards the end of the day? I was so happy with that flight, I'd love to have a pic to remember it by.

Got my photo album posted last week and forgot to post it.... You can find it here: https://jflis.com/fliskits/photo_albums/2016/cmass_aug/

You can locate all of my rocketry albums from our main web site at https://FlisKits.com/ by clicking the "Photo Albums" link near the top of the page (in the black header bar). Here are a few pix. One of my booth and one of Boris Katan's spinning saucer. Good stuff! Next up is our anniversary launch :)

Jim, thanks, as always, for posting your albums.
I copied one of the photos from your site for the article on the club website.
