I just got a Phobus from public missles from Christmas. Would love to put a camera on this but the pay load bay is not clear. Anyone have any ideas on how I can do this.
 
Cool, nice present!

Some people put a hole in the side of the payload bay. You can then just look out the side or put a mirror inside of a fairing to get an aft view.

Others put the camera itself in an aft facing pod or shroud.

Or you can just duct-tape the camera to the outside and make a fairing out of tape. :happydeer:
 
Since the airframe is only 2.1 inches will this effect the stability of the rocket?
 
Always an excellent question to ask when flying high power. Nothing quite as frightening as a G+ rocket that is out of control! :y: Of course, G- rockets can be quite thrilling as well... :eyepop:

You're adding mass pretty far forward, and that is *usually* a good thing. You are offsetting the rockets CG from the thrust axis, which can result in some changes to a normally straight boost. Something like the starter BoosterVision camera should add so little mass as to be insignificant in a rocket the size of a Phobos. Unless you stick it way off the thrust axis on a boom, for instance.

A payload pod or fairing may change the CP of the rocket. https://www.rocketreviews.com/cgi-bin/search/searchall.cgi?phobos has got a RockSim model of the Phobos. You could add your pod (or simulate the area by adding a fin with the same planform as your pod) and see what that does to the CG/CP relationship.

For a rocket the size of the Phobos you could probably also do a swing test, with motor and camera pod installed.
