Finishing Semrocs Mars Lander - chute instructions show a circle template used to cut hole in chute to eliminate rocket twirling - I don't remember having to do this when I built the Estes kit in the 70's. Its like a silver dollar sized hole in the chute. Anybody seen this and more importantly, does it work?

Excellent, yes the ML spills and if I remember it's a rocking motion. Chute size seems a hot button - Papa Tango x1.6 ML has 2 kevlar chutes and all I hear is folks asking for bigger chutes for this craft. I'll try the spill hole - ML has been around for awhile, maybe I'll go with the doc.

Thanks for the link - very helpful.

I use a 24" with about a 3" apex vent (spill hole). I have one of the old Estes orange and white chutes with a line to each color joint for a total of 24 lines.

it looks very realistic coming down.
