People do go into the chat room, but it is usually late at night. How late? After 10PM EST, sometimes it's even after 11PM EST.
The British contingent sometimes set up chat meetings on Saturdays. They are usually in there from like 3PM to 5PM EST Saturday afternoons. They usually post a note in a thread if they are going to do that.
