NAR has complete answer for their members on their website:

https://www.nar.org/hpcert/l1certreq.html

11. The certification card is valid for one year after the certification date or until the end of the NAR member's membership, whichever comes first. The card is recognized as proof of the certification level. The certification card should be destroyed upon receipt of a new NAR membership card which shows the certification level.

A Year after you don't renew your membership you will no longer be certified as far as I know.

For both Tripoli and NAR, your membership can lapse up to one year and when you renew, you keep your previous certification level.

So, let's say you were L2 and your renewal date was December, but you didn't renew until now. You'd be L2 again, as soon as you renewed.

But, if you were to wait until next January, you'd start over again at Level zero, because you were a non-member for more than a year.

No, the DAY their membership expires, their Cert expires too.

The “one year” thing is that if you renew within a year after membership expires, you get the previous HPR cert level BACK without having to do it over.

Some people might think they can be a member for one year and fly HPR for two years (with a one year “grace” after expiration) but no, it ain’t that way.

I have seen someone make this bad assumption and fly HPR for months after their membership expired, when they should not have because they then were not HPR certified. I did not find out about that until after it was over (after they no longer flew with us anyway).

Not an active (paid) member = NOT HPR certified.

Excellent point (and worth quoting to repeat it). Remind others who don't read TRF about this.

One other thing.

Your HPR Cert expires when your membership does.

The “one year” thing is that if you renew in a year, you get the cert back without having to do it over.

But the day your membership ends, your cert does too.
