I'm sure many of you have made a copy of The Point. But I wanted to share a trick I used.
I first made The Point using regular cardstock. Then I made a 105% oversize shroud by printing on photopaper which was then spray coated with Krylon Clear. I joined the edges of the shroud with double sided tape instead of glue. This keeps the joint from wrinkleing. Then I put several peices of double sided tape on the compleated model then carefully lowered the photopaper cone "skin" over the compleated model. It turned out great.
I used the same idea on a clone of the Vulcan and X-24 Bug. The only difference was that after putting on the photopaper skin. I attached Photopaper wings with the double sided tape. I don't know if the tape attachment of the wings will take the stress of flight, but the photopaper copies are made for show anyway. I made other glued-up clones to fly.
