I've had this bird since I was a kid in Oregon back in the early 70's, and I came across it in a box of model stuff a few months back. I have seen on ebay, currently up for bids, and I thought that I should rebuild her. I don't have two of the fins, or the fairings. Missing some of the control rockets, have the motor nozzles diplay piece, no chutes. I also have the cluster MMT. Any help on this would kindly be appreciated.

Ask Sandman. He knows alot about parts for everything.

Here I is!!

Get yourself an Alumilite kit.

https://www.alumilite.com/

The hardest part is making the mold. You will have to either take one of the fin fairings off and make a mold of it or carve a perfect copy, that wil be your "master" part.

Make a mold of THAT then you can make as many parts as you want.

Here is a pic of my 1/35th scale "Little Joe II" kit fin fairing. I made those with Alumilite casting resin.

Do a search for Little Joe II to see more pics...LOTS of pics!:D

Sandman,

Very cool Little Joe II. Your detailing looks amazing. Are the fins resin casts too? How did you do the corrugations.. evergreen metal siding? I would love to hear more about your construction methods.

There's one on ebay now, 2 days left, 12 bids, $324.00.

Thats a lot of money for some cardboard tubes.

The thread is 22 pages long!

Dang... How in the heck did I miss this thread? Your kit looks great. The alumilite fin faring castings look just like my 1/70th scale vacuform casting I made. Your whole kit looks top notch!
You are right.. Once I get home from work I am gonna be up all night reading this thread. Maybe we can compare notes on vacuforming?
