My wife and I became involved many years ago when our children were little. Took over as superintendents and now our daughter works the competition with us as an adult.
It's not as complex as some events, but we usually have several dozen smiling children and happy parents. That is worth it's weight in gold.
I love seeing new young people into building and flying their models. Every year I handle at least one model during craftsmanship judging. that the paint is still wet from last nights finishing job. It always makes us smile.
