Can a LOC Viper 4 be flown on 2 motors or does it need to be flown on 4 motors ?

Possible, as long as the 2 motors have enough impulse to get the rocket moving fast enough to achieve stable flight..

Plug the other 2 motor tubes so the ejection won't go out the unused motor tubes. Just install spent D12 casings as if they were live motors.

The loc viper IV is 17 oz so 17oz X 4.48 (to convert newtons to Lb) X 6(very conservitive minimum thrust to weight) / 16( to account that I use oz insted of lb) so that leaves me with an average thrust of 28.56 N so basicly you could fly this on any 2 motor that has An average thrust of 15.25 N, hopE this helps ;)

NOTE: do not use 2X D12 a it would only provide 24N, assuming it had an average thrust of 12N, but it doesn't it only has a certified average thrust of 10.21 N ;)

The D21 and D24 are a little iffy but prolly doable. Motors good for 2-motors flights should be:

E15W, E18W, E20W, E28T, E30T

F24W, (F30FJ), (F31R), F32T, (F33FJ), (F34R), F35W, F39T

Plus any future CTI F, G, and H motors.

() motors - not yet released
