Camera Rocket.

Usually I read the same forums each day. One day I had some extra time so I
stopped by the Electronics and Software forum. There I saw a thread about
those key chain cameras. I liked the idea. While these cameras are small, and
light enough to tape to the side of a small rocket, I wanted to have an enclosed
pod for the rear facing camera.

I had some odd sized BT60 scraps and some BT80, so away I went.
Main body 12 in BT80
Upper body BT 60
Side pods 3/4 BT60
2 Cluster 24mm Motor Mount.

The camera pod rear isn't flush with the rear of the rocket, I needed some room
to stick my fat fingers in to activate the camera. :blush:

Then I got to thinking. With the camera at the aft end of the rocket,
it might not get an interesting video. (with no rocket in frame, how would
anyone know what was going on.

So next up the ATLAS V. I'll mount the camera way up in the front of the
rocket. Either in the Payload section,(flush mount), or in the Centaur stage,
(in the shroud to the payload area). To get things interesting, a two 18mm
cluster (quest c6-5) with two drop off parallel boosters. The long burn
(2.5 sec) Quest motors will still be boosting when the shorter burn Parallel
boosters fall away. I haven't quite decided if the side boosters will be 18mm
(more motor choices), or 13 mm.(A10-3t for the high launch spike).

both nice rockets -well done, great designs.
i had ne of thos key cams which i used on my ECEE thunder until the camera stopped working. i'm just purchased two more.
i like the idea of building a rocket especially for the camera.

on a side note, liked to the other rocket you built from the picture, you could enter these rockets in the EMRR 2010 challenge, one of the challenges is for a two motor cluster
