I was surprised how many steps on the Estes Conquest say to use CA glue. I hate the stuff. I know that some of it is so things set fast. I used the green Testors on many steps and plan to go back with some serious Titebond fillets. Is is just setting or are there strength issues as well? I don't mind gluing and waiting most of the time. On a side note I guess the designer of the QRC explorer loves those intakes so much they had to be used again.

CA is generally a poor adhesive for rockets as it tends to get brittle with age. So if you want something so you can build fast and don't want it to last, then CA is a good idea. Now some kits have you use CA to stiffen paper and it works well for that. However, most people I know (not all!) avoid the stuff except for emergency repairs.
Odd choice for an Estes kit but the instructions do call for CA, via a drawing of a glue bottle with the letters 'CA' prominently displayed on the side.

In a build thread from 2014 The Chief Designer himself commented on this; spoiler alert, you can substitute wood glue if you want.
