Hey all you html/browser gurus. I just started using Firefox and noticed that all the bookmark icons that IE seemed to lose all reappeared. I also noted that MY website now has an icon ????? I researched a bit on the web to see how these things get inserted...but there is no such code on my page. Soooo, where the heck did this icon come from? Firefox doesn't make them up for other sites, so why is mine special?

yep,i want to know what happens to all those favourate bookmark icons. They look really cool and next time i go online they just dissapear:confused:

If the web site has a favicon.ico file in the main directory, some browsers
will download it and use it for local bookmarks and such.

Read all about it here - https://www.favicon.com/

HTH!

Dick- I assume you're refering to the web page in your .sig - that's hosted by comcast
so you'll find the file in the top directory of the site -- https://home.comcast.net/favicon.ico
rather than your personal pages.

Thanks for the info, that's the answer. Now that I think of it, the icon does look like the upper left corner of the Comcast logo.

So the bottom line is that the browser will look for this file even if the html code is not in the my page. I wonder if I add code it will over ride the default?
