Reminds me of state science fair (1975). The guy across the aisle from me had built a 10KW IR CO2 laser. It was water-cooled, about 5" across the water jacket, and a 1.25" dia. exit aperture. He claimed it would burn through a 2x4 in about a second at 10 feet. The judges did NOT let him demo it...
 
I liked the vortex rings video. I find something disturbing that such laser power is available to the general public.
That's nothing compared to another video. This kid plays with all kinds of insanely dangerous stuff, but really knows what he's doing. I've recently posted here a link to his recent, insane high voltage work.:
