I like the Estes Black Brant II but it is a bit overpowered for me with a D12-7 motor.

I built a BT-60 version than flies much better on a D

There is a Canadian company than makes the full line of Black Brant models but I can't find it...a little help here please.

If you are going to do that, might as well buy their whole kit.

i think ive narrowed my search down to either the cosmodrome almost exact 1/6 scale black brant II or the pml semi scale black brant II. i like the the fact that cosmodromes is really exact and it has the nose and tail cones out of balsa but pml's piston ejection systme is oh so tempting. what do you all think? precision or piston?

PML makes a semi-scale black brant II? Thought it was a Black Brant x (the BB2 looks much better, IMHO). I would go with the cosmodrome kit.

That's it.

Notice the two BB II's! The vertical one is like the Estes kit and the one that everybody models.

NOW...the horizontal one is ALSO a Black Brant II but...a four finned version!

Thanks stymye!

Seems like there's a vendor out there that makes a 2.25" BB3 for E, F, & G motors. I can't for the life of me find them again.

Black Brants make great flying models, provided you can get a conical nose cone [which is what we have Sandman for].

Red Arrow sells a 2.6" BBII kit, which uses a foam filled urethane nose and boat tail, and phenolic tubing. I purchased the nose and boat tail alone, and used LOC tubing for the air frame in order to save weight. My antennae are made from the upper section of an old Quest launch rod, fins are 1/8" ply. For decals, I had Binder enlarge the Estes set, and custom make them from vinyl. It flies fantastic on a G80-7. Total investment is about the same as the Red Arrow complete kit, but weighs a good bit less.

Here's my BBX from Yank. Only $46 and a great flyer. I've got 12 launches on it already. All F's and G's.

I wanted to use mine with G-64's but with the dual deployment it came out too heavy. H-210R worked very well.
