The fall season begins. The corn is off the fields and even the stalks are gone around the launch pads. Can you say Sparkies?

The pads are out and set up, we have a new 8 pad LPR controller and the batteries are charged!

Come on out and tickle the waiver at 15,000 ft. We have 1010 & 1515 pads and an away cell with 1515 and Unistrut rail. Looks like 5 M motors on the schedule so far.

If you ask real nice, we might be able to put together a rod up to 1/2" for an old retro "launch lug" rocket. You might need to sand some rust off the old rods, but....

Check out the web site at https://battlepark.org

See you there!

I'll be there, probably flying my Formula 150 on a AT K1000 Blue Thunder.

I'm looking forward to being there at least one day. I'm bringing my MAC Performance Rayzor and I have a new 4" Alpha (Big Fizz).

The Alewines will be there in full force!

Motors loaded:

  • Loki M-1650 cocktail + 2 -CTI J-330s in 9" Patriot
  • AT M-1315 in 6" IRIS
  • KBA L-2300G or Animal Compatible K-1130 Blue Baboon + 2 CTI I-287SS in 6" 4-finned PML Ult Endeavor

There's a slight chance I'll be across the states in Newport News area around this time. How bad of a drive would it be? Too much for a single Saturday?

Depends how much you like driving. It would be about 2 and a half hours each way. That's about the same as for me to drive to MDRA and I do that up and back in one day.

Well, given that my daily commute here in the Bay Area CA is about 1.5-2 hours each way.. that might not be too bad. (I don't like driving!)
Thanks for the insight.

Anyone in the western Maryland area going to Battle Park! Can I bum a ride? Can't drive anymore due to effects of chemo-radiation for cancer (no depth perception). Will pay for gas and lunch/dinner. Have just completed my first model since 1975 and want so much to earn my L1 certificate. Appreciate any and all assistance.

Glad the Alewines can make it. Last I heard there will be one M flown Friday and 4 more on Saturday. Sounds like you might be adding to the mix!

The more the merrier!

John, hope you can catch a ride and show up. Look me up if you do.

Due to motor issues I won't be flying my Formula 150. Instead I'm planning to fly my Frenzy XL on a K940 White Thunder. Sims at about 5000 ft. I'll be there on Friday.

I'll be flying my Formula 150 on a ex M1600 on Friday. Elaine is flying her Performer 150 on a ex M1600. The Americans fly on Saturday.

Ben

Great Day at BattlePark. Friday started out with very little wind. The first flight of the day was a K motor to over 5700 ft and landed about 600 ft from the pad. The next was an M motor to over 8000 ft and landed about 1000 ft from the pad. The winds picked up some as the day wore on, but there was nothing below a J flown until the afternoon.

Kenny Allen showed up in the afternoon. Kevin (Wildman VA) will be onsite Saturday only.

Looking for a busy Saturday with several M flight going off the away cell early.

Here's Ben's Formula 150 going up on a ex M motor. Cows don't seem too concerned.

We had a great morning at our first launch with the club at Battle Park. It was nice to meet everyone, and we look forward to flying with the club again soon. Thank you for your hospitality!

Here are some pics of my son John flying and retrieving his favorite Red Crayon.
