Been tracking a Raven Aerostar high altitude balloon over my home near Roanoke Rapids NC
Balloon is at 69,000 feet

the balloon is almost over Greenville NC as of 819 am

There are actually 3 balloons up over North Carolina at 12 miles up

there are now 5 balloons up over NC 3 are near Jacksonville NC and 2 are near Elisabeth City
all 5 are at least 12 miles up

if you live in Texas there is a balloon in flight south of Texarkana at 66,600 feet

They're weather balloons. They get launched twice a day to measure winds aloft.

EDIT: I just reread the first post that said it's a Raven Aerostar which is a research balloon. Are they all Raven Aerostars? Google has been flying a bunch of them recently.

They're not National Weather Service balloons. NWS radiosondes operate at 1680MHz. They go up at 0:00 and 12:00 Z. They measure PTU-G (Pressure, Temperature, hUmidity, and GPS location).

There are now only 6 balloons over Wilmington NC one must have been brought down a recovered ?
It is balloon # HBAL 532

balloon icon changes color as altitude gets lower

balloon HBAL535 went off radar coverage at 6000 feet.
should be landing now
