This is the Semroc version of Orville Carlisle's Rock-A-Chute Mark II, the rocket that pretty much started the hobby as we know it. The original used the legendary Leeds Sweete Pencil Sharpener as a nose cone.

Bet ya didnt have any trouble finding that one when it landed. :y:
COOL!
Time laps picture????

Actually, no. Just a low light shot with a good pocket digital. It was the last flight of the night and the brightness of the background doesn't adequately convey just how dark it was. I saw the motor burn the whole time and just got lucky on the liftoff.:D

G. Harry Stine's Mark II on display in the Museum of Flight in Seattle. I've built a Semroc Mark II kit and painted it to match (without the age cracking)....but I don't know if I have any pictures of it yet. If I find one, I'll add it.

Note that this one does not have the gigantic launch lug for the 1/4 inch dowel but a regular 1/8 inch LL (hidden in this view).

Mine doesn't have the crayon sharpener nose cone and came from Semroc but I'm happy with it.

Here's the last of my Rock-A-Chute Mark II Upscale, as well as, my collection of Mark II's with original Leeds Sweete Crayon Sharpener nose cones. I'm holding the rocket before I put it on the pad. Then on the pad but, no launch photo since I missed timed it. All of this led me to make the Square version in the last photo.

Here's some more photos of my Mark II's with the crayon sharpener nose cones. The one photo of me holding a Mark II next to a photo is to show the original that I modeled from. The photo has Orville's wife and daughter in it with some of his original rockets.
