FWIW - It occurred to me today that the Ares 1 shape is similar to the old MPC "Moon Go" kit. OK, no fins. But the larger diameter upper body ratio is similar and there is a capsule on top (though MPC's was more Gemini-like).
So, I've done some playing around with Photoshop again, modified the "Drag Race" file from last week.
Compare with the original MPC Moon Go seen in the thumbnail below.
