I used punchcards in my year 12 computer science class, on the mainframe, doing batch processing. I also still have a manual hand-punch that works like a dymo label machine. Dial up the letter, clunk. Next letter, clunk...
Me too: IBM 360 Assembler. I only took it because it was the only remaining computer class offered. Submitting card decks and getting back core dumps the next day... not the most fun process.

However... I freakin' *loved* the card punch. Watching the card go zooming through the machine was the best. Satisfying clunk-clunk while taping. *Loved* it.

Our card punch was in the same room with the donated minicomputer and the four (or so) Teletype 33s, which were perpetually thundering CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK in the background.

Computer class was a high-decibel experience back then. Good times. :)

I've never really cared about the NFL. That said, I will still tune in a game if I feel like it. I just don't allow politics to screw with either my leisure time or my chicken sandwich.

Depends. What's in the sandwich? Is this sliced meat, or chicken salad?

However, I am a long time Jets fan, and *that* has pretty much killed my NFL interest in the last few years. I'll watch the playoffs but the regular season has mostly dropped off my radar. I expect it'll come back someday.

The Army-Navy game was great. This week will be a good game also.

I lost interest since the whole kneeling thing & simply don't feel the interest returning....

I lost interest years ago. It's not a Sport anymore. It's a Money Making Venture, feeding off the fans.
Frankly, I'm surprised it hasn't become more like Wrestling. Entertainment for Profit. Or has it?

Tom Brady got a million dollars from PPP program and goes out and buys a 2 million dollar yacht. And we got thousands with no jobs, food, or housing. Something is FK up in this country.

Another way to look at it is that millions of people paid Tom Brady to entertain them and by buying a yacht, he allowed yacht-makers to have jobs.

In any case, I don't watch football. Just because.

Seems like a lot of it went where it wasn't really needed. Would've been cool to support small businesses, but instead we're funding mega churches, lamborginins and pro football players.

And then there us the NBA a Milwaukee buck player just signed a huge contract which he is being paid $165K per day for 5 years.

He was talking about money Brady got from the government Payroll Protection Program in the covid relief bill. It’s supposed to be used by businesses impacted by COVID to pay employee salaries, not used by rich people to buy yachts.

Why do you care?
Do you know how much the CEO of your company makes?

I see nothing constructive coming out from being envious of other peoples' wealth or compensation. Ever.

Alas, there are no limitations on how PPP funds are intended to be used. You may wish, or have assumed, that there were some restrictions on how they should be spent, but none were legislated.
"Paycheck Protection Program is a loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on the payroll" :
https://www.sba.gov/funding-program... Protection Program is,an interest rate of 1%
Most of the PPP $$$ in my area went to local churches, law firms, and sports facilities.
A few to restaurants and self-employed folks.
By and large, I view PPP to be a massive government boondoggle.

BTW, the funds disbursed under PPP are a 1% loan, which may, or may not, be subsequently forgiven. I did not read enough to figure out the forgiveness criteria.

Then there was these guys in AZ and CA, who used PPP funds to fund political bill-boards:
