I just like it's lines, I've always admired it for some indescribable reason, and I'm reading about Sputnik. Wondering if anyone scratch built one and how big of a can of worms it would be. Built one as a paper model a few years back.

Right on! This is the same card model I built. I didn't realize Roachwerks had an R7. So,did the boosters act as tubular fins? I'm telling you, the R7 is a beautiful rocket in a utilitarian sense...Not as graceful as the Saturn, but there's just something about it.

Yes the boosters did act like tube fins. I used stock fin on the boosters. I did three more flights after the first. Every flight was stable, but the height never got over 100 to 120 feet.
